Dr. Sam Sawan
Dr. Sam Sawan has been involved in the commercialization of technology since 1991. An academic polymer scientist for the last 28 years, he partnered with Teddy Shalon to create and run BioPolymerix, a company founded to develop new ophthalmic technologies. Since BioPolymerix, Sam has been a cofounder in six other companies (Surfacine Development Company, Intelligent Biocides, Synteni, Neosil, AirXpanders, Osteogenix) devoted to medical and pharmaceutical technologies.
Sam is the primary inventor on a number of patents in the life sciences arena and has been actively involved in creating robust intellectual property estates for companies that he has worked with.
Sam has a PhD in Polymer Science and is an active faculty member at the University of Massachusetts.
